Dr McKellar has a passion for teaching ophthalmology to his general medical colleagues. He has been involved in the education of trainee and graduate general practitioners for over a decade and his written articles have appeared in family practice magazines around the world. This material is now available as an online ‘textbook’.
A key feature of the E-text is the focus on what non-specialists, rather than ophthalmologists need to know. All the material has been reviewed by general practitioners. Specialist language is avoided and the illustrations assume that most non-specialists do not have access to slit lamp microscopes and other sophisticated imaging devices. The advice is practical and a highlight is the ‘Key points’ and ‘When to refer’ summaries.
